XVI Eurofiling Workshop

On March 30-31, 2011 the supervisors, IT specialists, accounting experts and solution providers involved in COREP/FINREP implementations gathered in London for the XVI Eurofiling Workshop. The workshop was hosted by the newly established European Banking Authority (former the Committee of European Banking Supervisors).

The history of the European Banking Supervisors Workshops dates back to 2005. Since then the bi-annual events attract a broad audience of regulators, filers and solution providers interested in financial and capital adequacy reporting of credit institutions in Europe using XBRL format. As application of XBRL for banking supervision expands in terms of business scope and geographic range the number of registrants once again exceeded the capacity of meeting rooms. Despite this fact, the XVI Eurofiling Workshop turned out to be successful and introduced new participants to the standard and community.

The agenda comprised diverse topics related to data models of revised COREP and FINREP frameworks, proposals for the Eurofiling taxonomies architecture, open community initiatives and implementation aspects (harmonisation issues and presentation of IT solutions).

The audience was welcomed by the Arleen Thomas, the Chair of the XBRL International Steering Committee followed by Oliver Servais presenting IFRS taxonomy, representatives of European Banking Authority and European Commission. Day 1 concluded with COREP and FINREP data models overview by BR-AG.

The second day started with review of the XBRL International Working Groups deliverables and work in progress (best practices, formula, versioning and rendering) and discussions on methodologies and architecture applied in the Eurofiling taxonomies. The rest of the Workshop was devoted to XBRL implementation aspects.

All presentations are available on the Eurofiling websites (link below).

The venue of XVII Eurofiling Workshop which is planned for second half of 2011 is yet unknown.
